Winter weather

The week before Christmas we were hit with a very strong Winter storm. This storm wreaked havoc on the entire country. There were lots of stories about deaths attributed to the storm. I myself ended up stuck alongside the road for 14 hours on my way home from work. The storm had turned to freezing rain and the road became impossible for me to continue on my way. I was smart enough to realize this before I ended up in a car wreck and got safely off the road to wait out the storm. I was prepared for this to happen and so I was not overly uncomfortable during the wait. Most people these days do not heed the warnings to stay home and wait out the storm and do not prepare for trouble either. I make sure that my gas tank is always at least half full, and I carry extra water, clothes, blankets, and food with me at all times. The society we live in today puts the emphasis on work over everything and we all comply because we need money to live. If I had listened to the forecast and believed it I would have stayed home that day, but It was right before the holiday and if I had missed work, I would have lost that holiday pay and I didn’t want to give that up. We all need to reevaluate what is truly important in our lives and focus on what is best for us and not what is best for the corporate overlords we work for.

Jan. 2, 2023

It is hard to believe that we are starting a new year again already. It seems the years just keep going by faster and faster. I am looking forward to 2023 and I hope to make it a good year. I have put off doing a lot of things that need to be done for several years now and I am working on changing that this year. My main goals for this year are to start writing more and to take more photographs. I love photography but just have not had the time to do it lately. I am so tired from work all the time that when I am not working, I just do nothing. I get by with doing the bare minimum I can and that needs to change.
